This is an incredible post-punk album. Ted Leo writes songs that have a staccato rhythm, very smart lyrics and hooks galore. The vocals really let you hear the urgency of what he's singing about. That's not to say that every song on the album is all stop start beats. There are songs that are very smooth and almost poppy, but still maintain just a bit of an edge. I can't recommend this album enough. My favorite is Woke Up Near Chelsea, with its big beat and shout along chorus.
